God Will Rescue You

"'Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,' declares
the Lord." - Jeremiah 1:8
The Lord tells Jeremiah that he has set him apart and anointed him to be a prophet. He promises to give Jeremiah the words to speak and he promises to be with him. But the interesting part is that the Lord promises to rescue Jeremiah. He doesn't tell Jeremiah that he will keep him away from trouble. As a matter of fact, later in verse 19, the Lord tells Jeremiah that people will fight against him. But once again the Lord promises him that he will rescue him.
So many times in my life, I am faced with difficulty and opposition. Just a few weeks ago I was harassed by a gang of young boys. I was so frustrated and angry. But God gave me the strength I needed and I was able to hold my emotions and speak words that I know God wanted me to. As I cried afterward, I asked the Lord why this had to happen. The Lord showed me how he had rescued me. I had also learned a few lessons and I have since heard that some of those boys also learned a few things about God's love.
God does not promise us a problem-free life, but he does promise to be with us and to rescue us. We don't ever need to despair. No matter how difficult or impossible a situation may be, God will rescue you.
